A Picayune man is facing trafficking and multiple drug charges after a joint investigation involving local and federal agencies.
According to the Picayune Police Department Special Operations Division, detectives, along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, conducted a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of Byron Long Jr.
During the investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop on a beige Toyota Avalon on Laura Drive. Long was observed throwing items out of the vehicle before being stopped and taken into custody. Investigators later recovered marijuana and synthetic cannabinoids in the area where Long was seen discarding the items.
Authorities executed two search warrants connected to the case:

At 611 Jarrell Street, detectives found a trafficking amount of Schedule II Tapentadol, THC vape cartridges, cocaine remnants, and packaging materials consistent with distribution.

At 964 Shirley Drive, investigators located cocaine and a firearm.
