Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced that Hattiesburg has unveiled the state’s newest Safe Haven Baby Box, providing parents in crisis with a safe, anonymous option to surrender their newborn.
The Baby Box is located at the Hattiesburg Fire Department and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows parents to safely and legally surrender their baby with complete anonymity, ensuring the child is protected and cared for.
“No matter your circumstances, this resource offers a safe place to go for help,” said Fitch.
Mississippi’s Safe Haven program is part of a growing network of support services for women, children, and families. Residents can find the full list of Safe Haven Baby Box locations and additional resources at MAMA.MS.GOV.
Fitch encouraged Mississippians to explore “The Empowerment Project,” which highlights initiatives across the state aimed at supporting women and families.
