According to WLOX, a man died after he jumped from a boat into shallow water near Horn Island.
Officials said the tragic incident happened Sunday afternoon.
Jackson County Deputy Coroner James Prisock told WLOX he was on an anchored boat and jumped off into water that was very shallow. When he resurfaced, he was not conscious.
WLOX reports he was brought to Ocean Springs Harbor by the Department of Marine Resources.
A life flight was called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
