A Madison man is behind bars after police say he allegedly became belligerent during an investigation into a stalking and harassment complaint on May 9.
According to the Madison Police Department, officers initially responded to a home in the Cypress Lake Subdivision following a report of stalking and harassment. While on scene, dispatch informed officers that the other party involved — later identified as Thaddeus Clayton Cochran — had arrived at the Madison Police Department.
Thaddeus Cochran is the son of the late U.S. Senator Thad Cochran.
Officers made contact with Cochran at the department and attempted to interview him about the complaint. Police say Cochran allegedly became belligerent during the interaction and was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing, and Stalking.
Cochran appeared before Madison Municipal Court on May 11, where he was denied bond.

He is currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center and is expected to appear again in court later this week as the case proceeds.
