Mississippi-born musician Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down says because of his faith in God, he’s not scared by his recent cancer diagnosis.
Arnold, 46, shared a video on Facebook Wednesday in which he told his fans he’d been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer that has metastasized into his lung.
“You know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So, I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all,” Arnold said.
The diagnosis will cause the band to cancel their summer tour, but Arnold asked for prayers, telling fans, “It’s time for me to go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit.” It was a reference to one of 3 Doors Down’s songs by that name, and the chorus says, “This could be the end of me and everything I know, But it’s not my time.”
Arnold grew up in Escatawpa, a small town on the coast. He wrote “Kryptonite,” 3 Doors Down’s hit single that rocketed them to stardom, in high school during math class.
He has been publicly outspoken about his faith in God since going through rehab for alcoholism in 2016.
