New details as the investigation into a Tupelo homicide we reported on late last week continues.

Joshua Lazore was arrested after his mother was found beaten to death with a shovel and stuffed into a trashcan.

During a welfare check last week at The Villages subdivision, officers found the body of retired schoolteacher Sherri Lazore, 62. Her son Joshua Lazore, 30, was also on the scene. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities said they have video evidence of the crime, and Joshua Lazore confessed. He was denied bond, with a judge referring to him as a danger to the community after what prosecutors called “a particularly vicious crime.”
