A Forest woman is behind bars after police say she was allegedly driving under the influence when she struck a child with her vehicle Saturday evening in a Pearl neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched to Pine Circle Drive around 8 p.m. on May 3, 2025, following reports that a child had been hit by a car. Pearl Police officers arrived within seconds, quickly detaining the driver and providing aid to the child.
During the investigation, officers determined that the driver, identified as 22-year-old Ty’Kisalyn Towner of Forest, Mississippi, was impaired at the time of the incident. Authorities also discovered that Towner had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and was in possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was arrested and charged with DUI (1st offense), simple assault on a minor, possession of paraphernalia, and the outstanding FTA warrant.
The child was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.
In a statement, the Pearl Police Department emphasized its commitment to protecting the community’s most vulnerable residents and urged drivers to think twice before getting behind the wheel while impaired.
“This incident serves as a sobering reminder of why we must continuously work to prevent impaired driving,” the department said.
