Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Jackson native Eudora Welty would have turned 116 this April, and the city is pulling out all the stops to honor her lasting legacy.

The celebration takes place April 11–12 at the Eudora Welty House and Gardens, offering free house tours, cupcakes, lemonade, and music from local DJs. The historic Belhaven neighborhood, where Welty lived and wrote much of her celebrated work, is at the center of the festivities.

Beyond the house and gardens, the city invites residents and visitors to explore public murals dedicated to Welty, enjoy her namesake cocktail at the Library Lounge inside the Fairview Inn, and grab a copy of her work at Lemuria Books.

The celebration highlights Jackson’s deep literary roots and its pride in being the hometown of one of America’s most influential authors.
