A routine traffic stop led to a drug arrest Wednesday afternoon when narcotics investigators discovered methamphetamine concealed in a snack bag.
On April 2 around 3:45 p.m., investigators conducted a stop on a white Toyota Tacoma at the intersection of Jackson Landing Road and Highway 11 for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Benjamin Galatas of Nicholson, Mississippi, was found to have no license, no insurance, and no tag.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, investigators found a distribution amount of methamphetamine hidden inside a bag of RITZ toasted chips.
Galatas was arrested and transported to the Pearl River County Jail. He has been booked on multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, as well as traffic-related violations.
The investigation is ongoing.
