Hattiesburg Animal Shelter Needs Help with Overflowing Laundry

Southern Pines Animal Shelter is putting out an urgent call for help as staff work to care for the many animals at the facility—while battling a mountain of dirty laundry.

The shelter shared that their washer is currently out of service, and with every blanket, towel, and pet bed needing a daily clean, the laundry is piling up fast. While staff have been hauling loads to the laundromat, it’s been difficult to keep up with the demands of feeding, cleaning, and caring for the animals.

Now, they’re asking for volunteers to help lighten the load.

“If you’ve got a little time and access to a washer or laundromat, we’d love your help,” the shelter said in a social media post. “We’ve got the laundry bagged up and ready to go. All you have to do is grab a couple of loads, give ‘em a spin, and bring ‘em back fresh and clean.”

Volunteers can pick up laundry at the shelter anytime before 5 p.m. and can even log their hours through the GivePulse platform: Volunteer Sign-Up Link.

“Every load you wash means a warm, dry bed for a shelter pet,” the shelter added. “You’d be saving us from a mountain of dirty laundry—and making life a little cozier for the animals waiting for their homes.”
