A Tupelo man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend.

On Saturday, March 29, officers with the Tupelo Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on Robert Kennedy Drive.

Upon arrival, they located a gunshot victim nearby on Beasley Drive. Officers rendered immediate aid to the victim, who was later transported to North Mississippi Medical Center by ambulance.

Investigators say the shooting followed a verbal altercation between the suspect and the victim.

Officers collected evidence at the scene and gathered information that led them to identify and arrest 28-year-old Zicais H. Silas of Tupelo later that same day.

Silas was charged with one count of aggravated assault. On March 31, 2025, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Silas to be held without bond. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further proceedings.

The investigation remains ongoing.
