The Rankin County Animal Shelter is urgently looking for adopters and rescues to help find homes for over 25 puppies that have recently come into the shelter as strays or surrenders. The influx of puppies over the past three weeks has filled all available kennels in the shelter’s juvenile room, leaving no more space for incoming animals.
Shelter officials are asking the community and reputable 501(c)(3) rescues to step in and help provide these puppies with the loving homes they deserve.
Without additional adoptions or rescues stepping forward, the shelter faces an overcrowding crisis.
How to Adopt or Rescue
If you’re interested in adopting or would like to visit these adorable pups, the shelter is located at 710 Marquette Road in Brandon, MS. You can also call 601-824-2024 for more information.
The adoption fee is $130, which includes: up-to-date vaccinations, worming treatment, spay/neuter surgery, and microchip for identification.
With no open kennels remaining, the shelter is stressing the urgency of this situation. Every adoption or rescue placement not only gives a puppy a loving home but also frees up space to help more animals in need.
For those unable to adopt, spreading the word or donating to support the shelter’s efforts can make a huge difference.
Check out the shelter’s Facebook page for pictures and names of all the sweet puppies up for adoption.
