Capitol Police are actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Pearl and Lamar streets in Jackson Saturday evening.
The shooting occurred during the festivities of the Hal’s St. Paddy‘s Day Parade.
According to Hinds County interim Coroner Jeramiah Howard, the victim’s name is Cortez George. He is 21 years old, from Jackson.
A statement from the Department Of Public Safety says that multiple people were shot. Aside from George, one person remains in critical condition.
