An estimated 113.5 million Americans have a step relationship. Today, so-called “nontraditional” families, including families with single parents, single adult households, cohabitating couples, and stepfamilies, now outnumber “traditional” ones, according to author Stephanie Coontz.

One third of all marriages in the US result in step relationships.

The Building A Successful Stepfamily Conference is coming to Broadmoor Baptist Church March 21-22, 2025. The conference will feature keynote speaker Ron L. Deal, bestselling author, licensed marriage & family therapist, podcaster, and popular conference speaker.

Ron conducts “laugh and learn” marriage and family seminars and professional training events online and around the country. He specializes in both marriage enrichment and stepfamily education. He is the most widely read and viewed author on blended families in the country.

One of the most alarming statistics when it comes to blended families is the divorce rate. Almost 60% of marriages involving step relationships end in divorce.

Dr. Preston Crowe, Broadmoor Baptist Church Counseling Pastor and Director of the Center For Hope & Healing said, “At Broadmoor, we often say ‘We want to run to the hurting.’ While, at times, this includes all marriages and families, this year we wanted to recognize the unique challenges that blended families face. Some blended families find the transition to go relatively smoothly, but many are quick to admit the process can be difficult. This event is designed with these families in mind. We hope the blended families in our area will be encouraged and supported through this conference.”

The event will feature sessions on Friday evening, March 21, 2025, and Saturday morning, March 22, 2025. Early bird registration is available at Broadmoor.org/blended for $25 per person through February 1, 2025. After February 1, registration will be $40 per person.
