A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old have been arrested in connection with a shooting on Ponderosa Drive, while their mother faces charges for allegedly interfering with the investigation, according to the Gulfport Police Department.
Authorities say officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3900 block of Ponderosa Drive at approximately 4:22 p.m. on March 4, 2025. An investigation revealed that 14-year-old Latone Myrick Jr. and 17-year-old Romario Carter had been involved in a verbal altercation with an individual prior to the incident. When that individual later arrived at their home, Myrick and Carter immediately brandished firearms and began shooting.

Two victims were struck and sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They were transported to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
During the investigation, police say the suspects’ mother, 34-year-old Rometria Coleman, denied her sons’ involvement and instructed them not to cooperate with authorities. Following the issuance of a search warrant, officers searched their residence and discovered multiple firearms.
Myrick and Carter have been charged with five counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with physical evidence, while Coleman has been charged with one count of hindering prosecution. All three were processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where they remain in custody in lieu of bond.
