Starkville police have arrested three individuals following a fight and subsequent gunfire near Yellowjacket Drive and Eckford.
The first incident occurred on the night of February 25, when officers responded to a fight that involved a gun. A 17-year-old was arrested and charged with simple assault, disturbance of a business, and providing false information. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.
Two days later, on February 27, officers were called back to the same area after multiple reports of gunfire. Police determined that the gunfire was related to the fight earlier in the week. While no injuries were reported, property in the area was damaged.
Following an overnight investigation, Starkville police executed multiple search warrants, which led to the arrests of Tomarkus Gray and Morlando Perry Jr. Both were charged with aggravated assault and taken to Oktibbeha County Jail.
The Starkville Police Department is encouraging businesses and residents to install surveillance cameras and consider joining the city’s real-time intelligence center to assist law enforcement in future investigations. Police also thanked the businesses and citizens who cooperate
