Before a cold front moves into our forecast area late Monday night, strong winds will develop out of the south and affect areas mainly along and west of the Interstate 55 corridor. Sustained wind speeds of 20 to 25 mph and gusts of up to 30 to 40 mph will be possible through the daytime. Driving high profile vehicles may become more difficult especially on west and east facing roads.
Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible as a cold front moves into the region Monday evening into early Tuesday morning. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary hazard with any severe thunderstorms but a brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
