A Pike County man has been convicted of burglary of a dwelling after breaking into a woman’s home to attack her.
On Wednesday after a two day trial in the Circuit Court of Pike County, a jury found Tommy Redmond, age 47, guilty of Burglary of a Dwelling.
This case arose October 26, 2021, when Redmond broke into the home of a female victim and her children and tried to assault her. Due to the quick response of the McComb Police Department, Mr. Redmond was taken into custody while he was still inside of the home.
Circuit Judge Michael Taylor sentenced Redmond to Twenty-five (25) years to serve the first Twenty (20) years in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
“I would like to thank the McComb Police Department for their quick response in helping get this violent offender off of our streets. People should be able to feel safe in their homes. A man or woman’s home is her castle,” said District Attorney Brendon Adams. “A victim of this type of crime will never again have the comfort and peace of mind that they are truly safe inside of their home. While we cannot take back what happened to the victim, we are sending a message that we will hold those that break the law accountable for their actions. She can now at least have the peace of mind that he has been brought to justice.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Robert Byrd and Sebastian Harrell.
