A community stepped up when they saw a neighbor being attacked by dogs in Rankin County.
According to Southwest Rankin Fire Department, on Saturday they were called to a person being attacked by dogs around W. Mountain Creek Road.
When the fire department arrived, they said that Rankin County Sheriff’s Office was already there, along with neighbors who had been passing by and ran the dogs away to help protect the victim.
Southwest Rankin immediately began providing medical care to the patient and asked that a helicopter be launched to transport the patient.
The Fire Department said the person was badly injured, but was stable.
Rankin County EOC, Rankin County Sheriff’s Deputies, Pafford Ambulance and Southwest Rankin FD together treated the patient’s injuries. The patient was then transported to the landing zone where PHI Medical received and flew them to get further care.

Rankin County Sheriff’s Office took over the scene for further investigation and action once the patient was removed.
The fire department said,
“We would like to extend a tremendous “Thank You” to those listed above, and to the neighbors who stopped, for their assistance. Rankin County is blessed to have such astounding resources available to bring care to our communities. Our thoughts and prayers are out to the patient and their family.”
