Mississippi Blues Marathon on Saturday to be one of the hottest ever

The Annual Mississippi Blues Marathon will take place in downtown Jackson on Saturday, February 23. With live music before, after, and throughout the course, the Mississippi Blues Marathon proves to be one-of-a-kind.

Bill Burke, owner and race director, said Saturday’s race will be the hottest in the 16-year history of the marathon. The race, which begins at 7:30 a.m. at the State Capitol in downtown Jackson, will be in the 60s in the morning and will top out in the 80s in the afternoon.

Challenge yourself with the marathon or half-marathon, or take things a little easier with our 10K & 5K. You can even create a team of five runners and tackle the course as a relay team. Four of you take on five-mile legs with the final runner going the 6.2 miles to the end. With the Mississippi Blues Marathon, there really is something for everyone!

With room for experienced marathoners and first-time racers, the Mississippi Blues Marathon gives you an opportunity to run the Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K, 5K or Marathon Relay and the Capitol Kids Fun Run!

It’s not just about the running either. The event is also a huge street party filled with enthusiastic supporters encouraging their friends and family to complete the races. You’ll see expert runners tackle the marathon in about 2 hours, 30 minutes and you can watch the inspiring determination of the racers who finish the course near its 7-hour time limit.
