CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. – Janice R. Broadhead, of Meridian, has been officially charged with false reporting of a crime, according to Sheriff Anthony Chancelor.

The charge stems from an incident on August 25 when Broadhead allegedly staged a false crime scene and faked her own kidnapping at her home.

Sheriff Chancelor emphasized the seriousness of such offenses, stating, “We take these situations very seriously, and we will not tolerate the false reporting of any crime.”

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to address the impact of Broadhead’s actions on local resources.
