The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting in Sumrall.
The incident took place on Tuesday when Sumrall police responded to a disturbance, according to Sumrall Police Department’s Facebook page. No further details have been released by the department.
Lamar County Coroner Blake Matherne told WDAM that Christopher Dyess, 43, was pronounced dead after the shooting.
The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, and MBI was called in to lead the probe into the incident. Both of those things are routine in line of duty shootings.
