The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is working on building resources that could help them more extensively when crimes are committed.
The department is building a camera registry that would give investigators a list of cameras that they could check when a crime occurs in a certain area, cutting down on the time it takes to knock on people’s doors and find out if they have a video security system.
Registering your cameras doesn’t give police access to your cameras, it only lets them know that you have cameras and are willing to share your footage if a crime occurs in your area, according to Marion County.
If you have questions or concerns about this program, the sheriff’s department asks that you give them a call at 601-736-5051.
