According to a report from WLBT, a man was attacked by someone with an axe outside of a church in Jackson.

Police said the man is in the hospital now with life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened in the 3500 block of Terry Road.

According to WLBT, police said they made contact with a 37-year-old man who said that someone was attempting to break into a church.

When the victim approached the subject, he was attacked with an axe.

According to police, the man was hit in the face, head, and neck with the axe. He is being treated in a local hospital.

Police have not yet identified the suspect.
