On Friday night, Tupelo police responded to a call where they found an unidentified man with serious injuries after he was the victim of a hit-and run.
the victim was not carrying ID at the time, but Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green released a physical description of the victim.
A white male that had the name “Kathleen” tattooed on his right rib cage area.
Less than three hours later, through the help of the media, the victim was identified as Bruce Martin Franklin Jr., 44, of east Tupelo.
Franklin passed away from his injured at a local hospital.
Witnesses said they saw an SUV strike the man as he either rode or pushed a bike. They said the SUV then fled the scene.
A man identifying himself as the driver turned himself in about an hour later.
A judge ordered the suspect jailed and set bond at $100,000.
