Madison Police Department and other agencies have one lane of the interstate closed down around mile marker 109 with a suspect believed to have stolen a woman’s purse at Sam’s Club in Pearl.

According to Madison PD, the suspect being detained on the interstate is believed to be the subject of a BOLO put out by Pearl Police Department earlier today.

Pearl spokesman Greg Flynn said the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the Sam’s Club parking lot while the victim was putting her groceries in her car. The suspect then fled the scene.

Authorities are currently working to clear the scene on I-55. One lane was closed for officer safety during the stop and subsequent investigation.
