On Wednesday, August 2, at approximately 1:24 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Interstate 55 in Pike County.

A 2022 Ford Explorer driven by 62-year-old Mark Beard of Amite, LA, traveled south on I-55 when it left the road and collided with a concrete culvert before overturning.

Mark Beard was pronounced dead on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
