Two people were found dead on Locksley Drive and Forest Avenue in Jackson on Monday.
Jackson Police Chief James Davis says officers were patrolling the area shortly before 8 p.m. when they heard multiple gunshots.
According to Chief Davis, officers saw a white car in the middle of the street with the passenger door open.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found a deceased male behind the steering wheel. A second deceased male was found lying in the street.
According to Chief Davis, it looked as if one victim attempted to exit the car once the suspect(s) began shooting into the vehicle. This, and the multiple shell casings found in the street in the front and rear of the car, led Chief Davis to say it appears that the two victims were ambushed.
“We need help from the community so we can bring some closure to the family of these lost loved ones,” said Chief Davis.
