On Wednesday, March 12, at approximately 9:04 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a crash on MS-18 East near Seven Spring Rd. in Hinds County involving a pedestrian.

A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 18-year-old Gracen Lancaster of Utica, MS, was traveling east when it collided with a pedestrian, 69-year-old Cornell Croft, from Jackson.

The passenger, 20-year-old Andrew Lackey of Raymond, MS, and the driver were not injured. Cornell Croft received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at UMMC.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
