Less than four years ago, Kendarious Shaw was winning reading awards at Hardy Middle School. On Sunday, the 16-year-old was charged with capitol murder in a March homicide.
Jackson police didn’t release the name of the victim in the Sunday press release, but the victim appears to be 15-year-old Emmanuel Lewis. Mia Shavers, 17, was initially arrested and charged with capital murder as well, and police said at the time of the homicide that both Lewis and Shavers appeared to be involved in a carjacking. The incident occurred around Langley Drive near Highway 18 on March 25, a day when five other people also lost their lives to Jackson crime.
Shaw was arrested in the 700 block of Glenmont Drive.
