UPDATE: 11:20 a.m.

According to Sheriff Greg Pollan, the body has been there since May or June of this year.

Sheriff Pollan said the body had tentative id on him. It was found near a makeshift tent the person made in a wooded area outside of Bruce.

If the id found near the body is correct, the person is a Hispanic male. His identity will be released once the family has been notified and his identity has been confirmed.

Over the weekend, a hunter leaving after a day in the woods reportedly found human remains in Calhoun County.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan, the hunter, from Tupelo, was in a wooded area in Bruce off CR-211 Saturday night when he found the remains.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Bruce Police Department, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the state crime scene unit were sent to the scene.

Sheriff Greg Pollan said that’s all the information they have at the moment, but we will keep you updated if there becomes more to report.
