According to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, one of the four escapees from the Raymond Detention Center is in custody in Texas.
The HCSO posted to social media just before 2 p.m. Thursday that escapee Jerry Raynes is in custody in Spring Valley, TX. He had recently been picked up on surveillance in the area in a gas station.
The United States Marshals, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Spring Valley PD assisted with the capture.
Raynes is believed to have escaped the Hinds County Detention Center at Raymond sometime Saturday night in conjunction with three other inmates: Dylan Arrington, Casey Green, and Corey Harrison.
Arrington is believed dead after allegedly fatally shooting a Pastor Anthony Watts and stealing his truck, fleeing to Leake County, and barricading himself into a home which burned to the ground. A body was found inside the home. Leake County Coroner Earl Adams said the body is still not conclusively identified as Arrington. Adams said authorities will identify him through scientific means before he can 100% say it is Arrington.
Harrison and Green have not yet been located.
Raynes will be held facing extradition back to Mississippi. The investigation is still ongoing, authorities said.
