One inmate in custody, one on the run, and now two are known to be dead.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones says escapee Casey Grayson, 34, was said to be in New Orleans and the United States Marshals were sent on the search. On Sunday, it came to a close.
Sheriff Jones says the New Orleans Police Department was conducting a death investigation Sunday morning after a man was found unresponsive in a white pickup truck at a truck stop on Gentilly Road. After being taken to the medical examiner’s office, the deceased was found to be Grayson. He was found by a security guard.
Grayson’s body will be sent for an autopsy, Jones said. The truck is said to possibly belong to a family member, and that angle is under investigation, the sheriff said.
Jones said illegal drugs and paraphernalia were found in the pickup with Grayson, but couldn’t confirm right away if they were the cause of Grayson’s death. He did say there didn’t appear to be any foul play.
Jerry Raynes, 51, was found in Texas. Jones said has been extradited and will face escape and auto theft charges.
Dylan Arrington, 19, died in a house fire he set himself during a standoff with Leake County authorities on April 26. During his escape he is accused of killing a pastor who stopped to help him after he wrecked a stolen motorcycle.
Corey Harrison, 22, remains on the run. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office at (601) 974-2900.
