On July 17, officers with the Greenville Police Department responded to Elm and Beckwith Streets in reference to several gunshots in the area.
When officers arrived, they found a black male who had been shot and was lying on the ground. He was identified as 52-year-old Garrett Albert of Greenville.
Albert appeared to have been shot several times and was transported to Delta Health for further treatment.
As a result of his gunshot wounds, Albert was later pronounced deceased by the Washington County Coroner.
