A former state representative was arrested Friday night in DeSoto County, according to booking documents.

The booking sheet from the DeSoto County Jail shows Donny Ryals, of Grenada, was arrested on charges of prostitution/ procurement of a prostitute. As of Saturday afternoon, the paperwork reflected no bond had been set.

Ryals, who served in the house from 2000 to 2004, was arrested Friday night and booked into the jail Saturday morning. His Facebook identifies him as single.

Darkhorse Press has reached out to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office for further information, as both they and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics are listed as the arresting agencies in separate parts of the booking sheet.

According to the paperwork, though, the arrest appears to be as a part of an open investigation by the Alcohol and Beverage Commission.
