Counselors have been on campus this week to help the students through the loss.
”Everyone is deeply saddened about the loss,” said Superintendent Cory Uselton in a release. “We will continue to pray for his family and friends, our students and staff, and the DeSoto Central community.”
Rudd, who would have been a senior this season, played as a catcher and infielder for the DeSoto Central baseball team. Rudd’s baseball coach Brian Lewis said on social media that Rudd will be missed. Baseball tryouts have been postponed in the wake of the loss.
The accident is under investigation by the Olive Branch Police Department.
