UPDATE: The body found in Mason Park in Laurel was identified as missing man Ricky L. Dunaway.

According to WDAM, authorities are conducting a death investigation in Laurel following the discovery of a body at Mason Park on Tuesday, according to Jones County Coroner Burl Hall.

Coroner Hall said that the Laurel Police Department is responding to the incident.

Police Chief Tommy Cox reported that officers are on the scene but have not released further information about the investigation.

When questioned about the possibility of the investigation being classified as a homicide, Coroner Hall mentioned that no determination has been made by the coroner’s office at this time.
