On July 28, Corinth Detectives tried to stop a reported stolen vehicle out of Alcorn County. The vehicle sped away and a chase started.
The driver of the vehicle jumped out of the car, letting it crash into a sidewalk and several signs. He got out and ran on foot into a wooded area where detectives were able to arrest him.
Police identified the suspect as Dakota Jacob Burnett. When officers searched his vehicle, they found a crystal-like substance along with two used needles.
The passenger of the vehicle Ryan Marshall Vandiver was also taken into custody for a separate vehicle theft out of Tippah County.
Burnett was charged with Felony Fleeing and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
This case will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury.
