Capitol Police arrested two men after finding marijuana, scales, a 10 mm Glock handgun and an AR-15 rifle in Jackson.
On August 7, Capitol Police encountered two men in a vehicle parked near Pleasant Street and Ralph Alley.
When they approached the car, one of the men ran from the vehicle with a backpack. Police quickly apprehended him and recovered almost 1 pound of marijuana, two digital scales, a 10 mm Glock handgun, and other paraphernalia from the backpack. They later found an AR-15 rifle inside the car they were driving.
22-year-old Dontavious Hoye and 23-year-old Demetrius Chambers were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and an enhancement charge for the firearms they had in their possession.
Both men were taken to the Hinds County Detention Center and are currently awaiting bond.
