Several Counties/Cities Issuing Burn Bans And Regulations

Walthall County: County-wide burn ban

A county-wide burn ban has been approved by the MS Forestry Commission for Walthall County.

The ban starts immediately and will go through the rest of August.

Clinton: Any type of burning outside prohibited

The Clinton Fire Department announced that as of August 8, any outside burning is not allowed.

The Fire Department said they will be issuing burn permits. The ground is so dry that it will contribute to even the smallest fires if they get out of hand.

A change of rain today and tomorrow may change this situation. It will be assessed on a day-to-day basis. The fire department said there will have to be a substantial amount of rain to make any controlled burn safe.
