A Brandon man is in custody after a barricading situation in the Cornerstone neighborhood.

According to police, on October 10, at 6:25 p.m., the Brandon Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance complaint in the Cornerstone subdivision.

Joseph Martin Kennedy II attempted to hold his wife hostage inside their home. He then barricaded himself in his house.

Ms. Kennedy was able to escape and reported to Brandon Police Department that her husband was heavily armed.

Joseph Kennedy was taken into custody by police without incident and is being charged with domestic violence and kidnapping.
