A body has been found during the hunt for Carson Sistrunk, who went missing two days ago from Rankin County.

Law enforcement confirmed that a body has been found, but so far they are not confirming an identity.

Sistrunk was reported missing and a report was filed with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and subsequently listed on NCIC. His phone was pinged at a location in New Hebron and his debit card had been used at a store in that area, according to his cousin, Nathan Rushing.

Hours later, Sistrunk’s truck was located with a woman driving it in the area of New Hebron and Jefferson Davis County. Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett said when it was found by investigators, it appeared to have blood in it.

The woman was taken into custody for questioning.

On Wednesday, resources were sent from other agencies to Jefferson Davis where a body was found, officials said. Several of Sistrunk’s family members have posted on Facebook that the body is his.

Family sources say Sistrunk met a female on Snapchat and had gone to meet her on Sunday. His truck was taken and he was allegedly shot and dumped.

We are awaiting official comment from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department.

This case is ongoing.
