The Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department and state agencies are investigating the death of a former state representative found dead Sunday night.
Yalobusha County Coroner Ronnie Stark said that the victim is Ashley Henley, a former Republican state representative. Henley was shot, Stark said, and it is a homicide investigation.
Deputies were first sent to the scene around 10 p.m., and from that point, several other agencies joined the investigation, according to the North Mississippi Herald. They were on the scene until after 2 AM.
Henley’s sister-in-law, Kristina Michelle Jones, was found dead inside a burned trailer at the same place on Patricia Drive in late December.
Assistant District Attorney Steve Jubera told the Herald that it appears Henley was outside the burned trailer cutting grass when she was killed.
Henley served in House District 40 from 2016 through 2019.
