A shooting at Pearl River Solar Park in Scott County resulted in two people hospitalized, according to authorities.
Police say there was a fight between the two employees which led to a shooting Thursday morning. After the shooting began, two former military employees subdued the shooter.
Pearl River Solar Park is on Merchant Road outside the Morton city limits.
Initial reports said there was an active shooter situation, but it was personal between the two, officials said. The alleged shooter was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
Several witnesses are being interviewed at this time.
Pearl River Park’s parent company, EDP Renewables North America, released the following statement:
EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) is concerned by today’s incident involving individuals employed by contractors at our Pearl River Solar Park and is focused on ensuring the affected individuals and all site personnel receive the support and resources they need.
EDPR NA is cooperating with appropriate authorities in this investigation and appreciates the efforts of first responders to resolve the situation on-site quickly. The facility has been secured and stabilized, and the construction at Pearl River was shut down following the incident.
Our first priority is the safety of all who work on and around our projects. We will continue to focus fully on protecting the personnel at Pearl River as well as our other projects under construction and in operation.
