OXFORD — A Canadian fugitive wanted for murder in Toronto has been indicted on federal firearms and immigration charges after his arrest earlier this week in north Mississippi, U.S. Attorney Scott F. Leary announced.
Adrian Walker, 28, a Canadian national, is charged with illegal entry into the United States and being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm. The charges follow his arrest Monday in Tupelo.
Authorities said Walker was wanted by the Toronto Police Service on a nationwide warrant for first-degree murder and attempted murder stemming from a May 7, 2024, shooting in Toronto. He had been listed as a “Most Wanted Person.”
Walker was taken into custody in Lee County by agents with the U.S. Marshals Service, including its Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He was initially arrested on an immigration violation warrant.
“As previously stated, this was a serious case,” Leary said in a statement. “A Canadian national, wanted for murder, entered our country illegally and was living in our midst.”
Leary added that the case underscores the risks law enforcement officers face and praised the agencies involved in the arrest.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Clyde McGee and John Herzog Jr.
Officials said the investigation is part of a Homeland Security Task Force effort under Operation Take Back America, a federal initiative targeting illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
