A woman fatally shot in her driveway in Batesville has been identified by police, according to The Panolian.

Kim Davis-Robinson was shot several times with a handgun shortly after she arrived at her home on Vick Street about 3 p.m. on Saturday. Police say a suspect has not been caught.

Witnesses told the local newspaper that the attacker fled in a blue vehicle. Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and the investigation is active.

Authorities say she attempted to flee, but was struck by bullets and couldn’t maintain control of her vehicle. The car was wrecked in a ditch close to her house when police arrived.

She was treated on the scene by paramedics, but died on the way to a hospital.

Social media and news outlets are also reporting her husband, Michael G. Robinson, passed away less than two months ago, making her murder more devastating to family and friends of the late couple.

The Facebook page of Mississippi News posted: “Exactly 1 month & 20 days ago we lost a Mississippi legend (Michael G Robinson) of Batesville, Mississippi and today his beloved wife Mrs. Kim Davis-Robinson was killed in an active shooting. Please keep both families in your prayers!!! Mississippi is praying for you all!!”

The especially brutal and seemingly targeted attack took place in an older neighborhood in Batesville that rarely sees violence. Vick Street, which is near the mayor’s home, runs between Highway 6 and Trianon Street.

Policesay they are trying to locate a man described to them by witnesses as the shooter.

Anyone with any information for investigators should immediately call the Batesville Police Department at 662-563-5653.
