The Enterprise-Tocsin is reporting that a man is dead after he allegedly attempted to break into an occupied home.

The incident occurred in Yazoo City early Tuesday morning. Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers told the ET that Eddie London was pronounced dead around 4:52 a.m. at a home on Grand Avenue. Shivers said London broke into the home and walked into the bedroom. The male homeowner woke up and shot the intruder three times, Shivers said.

Yazoo City Det. Nolan Warrington said the homeowner told him the intruder appeared to have been under the influence of some substance.

Warrington told the Enterprise-Tocsin that the homeowner said London appeared to believe he was in his own home. When London went for the homeowner’s gun, there was a fight, and he ended gaining control over the gun. The homeowner had another gun and when the fight continued, the homeowner shot London.

Warrington said the investigation is ongoing. Neither homeowner was injured.
