Guntown man arrested in Lee County camper theft

A Guntown man is behind bars after being arrested Monday in the theft of a stolen vehicle and camper.

A release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office states that a call came in on Monday reporting the stolen vehicle and camper on County Road 251 in the Saltillo area.

As deputies responded to the area, police received new information that the stolen vehicle and camper had been involved in an accident near the intersection of County Road 251 and Birmingham Ridge Road.

When deputies arrived on scene, eyewitnesses were able to identify the suspect.

Police took Richard “Blake” Sherwood, 35, of Guntown, into custody at the scene. He was transported to Lee County Adult Jail, and is charged with motor vehicle taking – felony, and grand larceny. His bond has been set at $50,000.
