An Aberdeen man was arrested and charged in a fatal shooting early Thursday.
According to reports, a man called 911 and said his nephew had been shot. Aberdeen Police Department said in a release that officers responded to the call on North Matubba Street at 2:15 a.m. where they found 27-year-old Jamie Smith Young fatally shot. Witnesses told police that the suspect had fled the scene, but they knew who he was.
Terrence Smith, 24, was arrested a short time later at his home. He’s being held at the Monroe County Jail on first degree murder charges.
Aberdeen had a fatal shooting just a week prior to Thursday’s incident. Two men were arrested in that case.
