A man who pleaded guilty in a 2016 murder will spend 35 years in jail.
Alex Lee Dixon, 31, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of Deswaund Bell inside the Shell Gas Station on University Avenue. Police said the incident began with an argument.
Bell was shot several times and pronounced dead at the University of Mississippi Medical Center later that night.
Jackson police said Dixon fled the area after the shooting, armed with a handgun. He later turned himself in to the late Sheriff Victor Mason.
Court officials said there will be no early release for Dixon.
